The app's rules
The site describes the rules as the Reversi app applies them, read from its code, including the count that excludes empty squares.
How the examples are verified
Every position and every number on the site is checked by a program before publication:
- positions are sequences of moves from the start, replayed by the app's code, without modifying it;
- legal moves, flipped discs, passes, game end and disc counts are recalculated by a second program, written from the rules: the two must agree;
- the annotated game is played by the app's computer, and at each move we check that it really chooses the move shown;
- the 9 possible matchups between levels are played to the end;
- the app's figures (board size, levels, tables, languages) are read from its code.
Tips that depend on the position are presented as such, separate from the rules. Found a mistake? Write to us via the contact page.
